Julie is the Executive Director at Main Street Project in Northfield Minnesota. Main Street Project and its Farm serves as a regional training and demonstration hub serving beginning farmers. The Mission of Main Street Project is to advance and demonstrate the power to heal our lands, nourish our communities and prepare aspiring farmers.

As a founding Principle of Regeneration Partnership LLC, Julie also works with other restorative community-based farms in the Upper Midwest. In all of these efforts land access and innovative financing is key to advancing resilient work with beginning farmers and local communities. An active community leader, Ristau co-founded and led Homegrown Minneapolis, the city’s urban agriculture and food initiative. She served as a board member of the University’s Minnesota Institute for Sustainable Agriculture for six years, served on the board of Permaculture Research Institute Cold Climate for 5 years and is currently serving on the board of Shared Capital Cooperative.
